In this section I shall briefly introduce four logic operations. They are all very easy to perform.
Logic operations provide a useful means of accessing and manipulating an individual bit, or several bits, in a binary word.
For instance, they can be used to test whether a particular bit is 1 or 0, or to ensure that a particular bit has a pre-defined
value irrespective of the value of all the other bits. You will see examples of the use of logic operations later in the course;
but for the present you need to concentrate on what they are and how they work.
